Your Job in Germany

Anyone else seen this? I've been meaning to put this up for a while now. This propaganda film was directed by Frank Capra and written - at least in part - by Dr. Suess, instructing soldiers on how to behave while on duty in Germany. I've broken several of the rules laid out in this very interesting peek at the past (...and maybe some will agree a scary echo of current events).

Wow, that's an incredible piece of propaganda! Thanks for posting it! WOW!

That's really, really scary. I'm not worried about Germany (at all), but I can just see this sort of propaganda being thrown out (in America, by this administration) about Islam or Iraq... or any number of other people/counties.

Interesting to see isn't it? When I was watching it, I was thinking that with maybe a little toning down this could easily be applied to today's situation. "Insert enemy and apply suspicion".

You should listen to "Germaniac" by the Krupps

I've seen it and it does strike me a bit odd.

But, it was a tense moment in world history and people made choices. Now we try and make sense of it all.

Not to forget is that the American troops who saw this film also came up with many good ideas to support the German rebuilding effort, including the idea for dropping Raisins and candy to children during the Berlin Blockade (raisin bombers):
